[Tech] How to Use Facebook without Internet on Airtel, Etisalat and MTN Nigeria

I know some people who aren’t familiar with this service might be wondering if this is possible, well, it is. This service was lunched by Facebook some time ago and is called Facebook for USSD. The whole thing is done by dialing a simple USSD code(for MTN and Airtel Subscribers Only)  or sending an SMS(for Etisalat Subscribers)  on your mobile phone.

For now the service is only supported on MTN, Etisalat and Airtel Nigeria and has proved to be quite helpful in situations where by your internet connection isn’t at its peak or maybe you don’t have a data enable device. One can use this rapid service to do the following;

• Check notification
• Update status message
• View, Like, Comment on posts
• Post on a friends wall
• View and Send Message

Facebook via USSD on Airtel Nigeria

Airtel Nigeria subcribers can activate this service by dialing *688#. You will then need to subscribe to a Monthly, Weekly or Daily package. The subscription costs are N100, N25, and N5 respectively. You will then be prompted to fill in your login detail. After a successful login, your Facebook menu will then be visible.

To unsubscribe for this service, simply dial *688*22#

Facebook via USSD on MTN Nigeria

On MTN Nigeria, this service is called MTN Quick Facebook Service and it can be activated by dialing *510#. You will then need to subscribe to a Monthly, Weekly or Daily package. The subscription costs are N100, N25, and N5 respectively. You will then be prompted to fill in your login detail. After a successful login, your Facebook menu will then be visible.

Facebook via SMS on Etisalat Nigeria

This service is done differently on Etisalat Nigeria, It’s done via SMS not USSD. Therefore, you make use of the service by sending an SMS to a unique number.  But first you’ll have to register your Etisalat mobile number on Etisalat Facebook application online and allow the application to access your profile. 

How To Use Etisalat SMS to Facebook service

To update your status: For example if you want to update your status by saying Happy Father’s Day, you’ll have to send S Happy Father’s Day to 48767. To register for this service, Click Here. This service Cost N20

To Upload a Picture or Video: Send an MMS to 48667 and its will be displayed on your wall. To register for this service, Click Here, Each MMS cost N50 per 100kb.
