After a long wait by students and some universities The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has now announced 180 as the admission cut-off score for degree programmes,
and 150 for national certificate in education, national diploma and national innovation diplomas. the cut off mark did not come as a surprise to me because i witnessed very low and high scores this year. like 90, 30, 60, 300, 280 etc.
The permanent secretary, Ministry of Education, McJohn Nwaoibala, announced the cut off after a vote by representatives of all institutions requiring JAMB scores at a combined policy meeting in the Abuja office of JAMB.
Now after they announced the cut off mark Jamb went further to favour science students in this year admission process.
"The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Following the decisions reached in the policy meeting held yesterday has mandated institutions to conclude all admission processes on or before October 31st, 2015.
It was also decided that the 2015/2016 admission would be 60:40 ration in favour of science courses to Art courses and ration 70:30 for courses in Technology and non technology courses.respectively."
Now that jamb has brought down the cut-off to 180 I started asking lecturers and some blogger friends questions. My major question was,
Will schools Unilag, Oau, UniIbadan etc work with this cut-off??
After relating and collating their answers the summary was Yes, they will but they will make their final cut off mark so high that even if you scored 180 your chances of entering is inches to being impossible.
You still do not believe me do the maths.
jamb score divided 8 while postume score divided by 2.finally sum d 2 together dat ur aggregate.
My question now is that "IS THIS CUT OFF MARK FAVOURABLE OR JUST TO MISLEAD STUDENTS???
